Racing Car Nappy Cake

Some of you may remember me talking about a custom order that I couldn’t wait to show off, back in September. Well I can finally unveil it! So here it is: F1 racing car complete with Jensen Bear 😉

It contains 7 nappies, 2 muslin cloths, 1 bottle, 1 body suit, 1 pair of socks,

1 bear and a pair of scratch mitts.

I actually used a picture of Jensen Buttons F1 car to get the shape and colours as accurate as possible.

I really enjoyed making this little guy, I’m really proud of how he turned out!

Unfortunately the customer who ordered him has disappeared from the

internet… But I’m sure I’ll find him a new home soon!

Thanks for visiting!

Saturday craft fair

This is going to be a pretty short post. Saturday I was at my local craft fair. My neighboring stall just happened to sell homemade biscuits, toffee and truffles and kept offering me samples… Can’t think of a better way to spend my Saturday morning 😉

I apologize for the bad photos, I took them in a hurry! I was selling a mixture of nappy cakes and Christmas giftsets/stocking fillers. I sold a few things and I’m looking forward to going back again in two weeks. November and the beginning of December are going to be very busy for me in terms of craft fairs, I have four fairs in five weeks =)

Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Crafters Boutique

I am pleased to say that I got a lot done this weekend! One problem I have always had is “Where can I sell my nappy cakes?”. Yes I sell them on Facebook but I mean an online market place for handmade goods. Folksy don’t allow nappy cakes and Etsy is so huge that I know I would never be found on there. Well over the weekend I found the answer. The newly opened online market place, Crafters Boutique!

What is it?

An online market place where you create your own shop. But unlike Etsy, Folksy etc, you don’t have to pay listing fees and commission. You simply rent your shop for 1, 3, 6 or 12 months, then add as many items as you like! I have rented my shop as a premium seller for 1 month (£8) to try it out and so far I am very impressed. When my month runs out I’m going to change to a longer term, which means that it works out cheaper per month. As a premium seller, my items are showcased on the main page when listed and I have a chance of being in the monthly newsletter. There is a standard seller option as well but personally I think it makes more sense to get a premium membership. Full details and FAQs are on the Craft Boutique website. Whether you are looking to sell or buy, make sure you check it out!

So I spent a productive weekend adding items to my shop, as well as preparing for my craft fair next weekend! Here are some of the items I have added so far:

For prices, descriptions and to view my other items, check out my shop.

Have a great day!

Belated September round up

September is my first whole month on this blog, so even though its a little late I’ve decided to write a round up! Then tomorrow I’m whole to post my aims for October =)

So in September I opened a Twitter account and came across the fab #craftblogclub! Ran by the lovely Emma from Life is Peachy Craft Blog Club runs every Tuesday 7-8pm. Just use #craftblogclub to join in! September also saw the first ever Craft Blog Club challenge, which was to cover a notebook! Now anyone who has read my blog in the last couple of weeks will know I had a couple of problems with this challenge…

You can read about it here:

So what else have I been up to? Heres the full list including the points above.

In September I have:
Not bad for my first proper month =)

I’m going to post my goals for October shortly,
Bye for now,

Pirate ship nappy cake

A few weeks ago I wrote this post about a challenge I had set myself on Facebook (with the help of my lovely likers!) Basically I asked people to suggest objects for me to make a nappy cake of.

I have already made a lion and a butterfly:

Today I picked another suggestion, a pirate ship! I will hold my hands up right now and say that it looks more like a sailing boat… but I’m still pretty pleased with it =)

Bye for now,

Custom Orders are the best!

I’m very excited today because I have been working on a custom order! I love custom orders… When someone says “Could you make a nappy cake in the shape of *insert random object here*?” and I say “I have no idea… But I’ll give it a go!”

I was asked if I could make bears… Turns out I can =)

On Sunday I received a message on Facebook asking if I could make a nappy cake resembling a certain object… I won’t say what it is yet but hopefully I’ll be able to post photos soon. So today I spent a lot of time on this idea and I finished the nappy cake and I have to say I’m really proud of it! Personally I think it really looks like the object it is supposed to be (if that makes sense) and I have sent photos to the lady who enquired. I’m waiting for her response, hope she likes it!

I think the reason I love custom orders so much is that I love a challenge! There’s always that thrill as I think “Can I really make *that* out of nappies and baby items?!” I love to plan how I’m going to assemble it and there is no better feeling than sending photos to the customer and saying “Look, I did it!”

Fingers crossed that the lady likes it!
